Norrebro wanderings
Last night we were wakened by the feel of cold water as a torrential thunderstorm dumped tons of rain on our open hatches. Who knew water could fall from the sky after all these weeks of relentless sun?
We scrabbled to shut and lock the hatches.
Then we felt the rainwater running down the mast into the main cabin and on to our ancient carpet. Why was the rubber 'boot' clipped around the mast not sealing the water out? A problem for the morning when Nic put waterproof grease around the boot and found our old giant jubilee clip to add to the two others holding the boot in place.
After these running repairs we hopped a bus to Netto to buy the minimum of fresh food which has to fit in our new electric cool box.
We lucked out in the local cafe (achingly hip) with lunch salads of cauliflower, feta and butter beans, and cod, lime and chickpeas.
Back on the bus to the district of Norrebro which is stiff with vintage and charity shops. See pic of Nic entering the biggie called the Red Cross Mega store.
Three storeys of bargains from Scandi glass vases to clothes, books and furniture (chairs at £5) And comfy sofas everywhere where Nic could sit and read.
We bought books, a beach towel, a vase and some DVDs. At another shop we bought a shirt for Nic for £7.
Exhausted we piled into a cafe called the Laundromat (see pic) where you can read books, drink coffee and also do your washing. Lesley's smoothie cost more than the new shirt....
After a bit more wandering we took the bus home. When we got off there was a seriously unwelcome surprise. Noise, bikes, hundreds of people. A giant music festival is taking place very close to the marina today and tomorrow. As we sit on the boat we can hear every amplified note of the live bands. And it's only 6pm.
You win some and you lose some.
