Fleas in Frederiksberg

Got up real early, made the effort to get to the Flea Market on the other side of the city in the Frederiksberg area by 0830. Luckily the trusty 9a bus that starts by the marina, and runs every 10 minutes 24x7, took us all the way.

L spent 4 hours there, buying a multitude of interesting things. Yes, it was that good. N got round in an hour and bought nothing except a coffee. He doesn't have the commitment. Pics of the market didn't work, sorry. Just imagine a hundred stalls piled high with clothes, bric-a-brac, toys, paintings etc etc.

N explored nearby park and discovered a 'dummy tree' see pic. Young couple explained it's common in Denmark - when a child gives up its dummy it is hung from a tree with a message and sometimes a flower or small decoration. A curious rite of passage. He then tried out the Metro, which has no ticket barriers, for a transfer back to the centre, and explored the shopping streets with the aid of a large currant bun called a Koepenbolle. So there's pics of typically beautiful street scenery (not shops).

We were both back at the boat for a v late lunch and the weather turned from 'perfect for tourists' (cloudy sun & cool air) to really cold with torrential rain and howling wind. Sirena IV surged and rolled on her ropes as though wanting to shake free. Just a couple more days, Girl,  then we'll be off somewhere. The mast did not leak today - hurrah for waterproof grease! We're still having fridge issues but you don't want to know - really, you don't.

This evening we had a really healthy dinner of marinated raw herring with salad and pitta - tastee. Then we did a very unusual thing; dug out the portable DVD player and watched first half of Amistad (we bought a bunch of DVDS at Red Cross yesterday).
